Boulder Mountain Travel Photos

Boulder Mountain rises 11,000 feet above Capitol Reef National Park. It makes up half of the Aquarius Plateau, a forested highland that occupies some 900 square miles west and north of scenic Hwy 12.

Boulder Mountain and the Aquarius Plateau are heavily forested with pine, spruce, fir and aspen. They offer camping, hiking, and some great fly fishing opportunities for trout in streams, small lakes and beaver ponds. There are also some wonderful scenic drives through and around the range. The area is not heavily promoted, so visitation is relatively (and pleasantly) light.

Small towns along Hwy 12 east and south of the range and on Hwy 24 north of the range offer lodging and dining opportunities.
