Castle Hot Springs

Castle Hot Springs Castle Hot Springs is a gorgeous hike/drive. With some small cattle ranches, strange and unusual rock formations, mountains, and lots of wildlife along the way.

Many people opt to take a motorcycle or an ATV on this ride. The ride is a more advanced grade because of sandy creek bottoms as well as a lot of riding on gravel road.

There is a 3 mile stretch of road that leads to Castle Hot Springs that is in pretty good condition except after flash floods and heavy rain. Castle Hot Springs was the first spa resorts in Arizona. It is now just he ruins of it.

The Sonoran Desert which you will be traveling through once hosted the Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Ford, Theodore Roosevelt, and Astor families.

You will ride for about 29 miles on very scenic dirt road. You will then come upon the road by Lake Pleasant Regional Park. You can take Castle Hot Springs road to access the northern entrance.

Here there are many activities. Boating, fishing, swimming, hiking...etc. There is a nice visitor center with lots of history on the local wild life and the surrounding area.

Heading back to the valley can be done by using the Carfree Highway.
