Fort Huachuca

Fort Huachuca has been an active military installation since 1882, if it began as a simple camp of the United States Calvary in 1877. The first entire regiment stationed here was the all-black 24th Infantry and the famously tough "Buffalo Soldiers" of the all-black 10th Calvary were stationed here in 1913. Today, troops are no longer segregated, and the fort still serves national defense. You can tour the historic fort, but you will need to acquire a visitor's pass -- be sure to have your drivers license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance.
