The Grand Canyon Skywalk is a new and quite unique tourist attraction located literally on the edge of the Grand Canyon. The Skywalk is a glass-bottom horseshoe-shaped walkway projecting 70 feet out over the edge allowing visitors to look straight down, nearly 4,000 feet below to the bottom of the canyon. Visitors can venture onto the walkway for $25 in addition to other fees. Other fees include admission to the Hualapai Indian Reservation (approximately $50), normal Grand Canyon National Park entrance fee (approximately $25 per vehicle) and taxes totaling to roughly $80 per person. Parking is free.
While this unique attraction is new, it is gaining great popularity so be sure to allow enough time as waiting in line for over an hour is not uncommon. Cameras, bags, purses and several other items are prohibited while on the Skywalk. Since cameras are not allowed on the Skywalk itself, a photographer is present allowing you to purchase souvenir photos at an additional cost.
The Grand Canyon Skywalk is located at Grand Canyon West and can be accessed by both Las Vegas (121 miles) as well as Flagstaff/Phoenix (216 miles/253 miles) although Las Vegas is much closer.
