Description

Scenic beauty, history, the bray of a distant burro, and hours of leisurely recreational driving await travelers to the area. Recapture childhood memories, visit the old gold mining town of Oatman, or see for scores of miles from the tri-state overlook. It is 78 miles from Kingman to Seligman

The road is legally accessible by any vehicle under 40 feet in length. Travelers are advised that the portion of the highway passing through the mountains is a very narrow two-lane with no shoulders, extremely tight switchbacks and many steep drop-offs. Wide vehicles and vehicles over 30 feet in length should use extreme caution when driving this road.

The Historic Route 66 National Back Country Byway begins five miles south of Kingman at the McConnico exit off Interstate 40. To begin at the southern end, exit off Interstate 40 at the Topock/Golden Shores. Switchbacks access Oatman and the mining community of Goldroad.
