Kanab is a pleasant, mid-sized town on Highway 89 that serves as a popular traveler's stop. It is conveniently situated among several major attractions in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona:

  • Zion National Park - 30 miles northwest
  • Grand Staircase National Monument - 15 miles east
  • Bryce Canyon National Park - 75 miles north
  • Lake Powell - 70 miles east
  • The Grand Canyon (North Rim) - 80 miles southeast

Kanab has also gained some fame for being the site of many western movies. It's locally known a bit boastfully as "Little Hollywood." Another point of local fame is Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, a large pet preserve up in the canyon and open to visitors. Nearby is historic Moqui Cave and its unique collection of dinosaur footprints and Native American artifacts.

Kanab is a good place to sleep and eat between National Park adventures and has plenty of accommodations and casual restaurants.
