Weather information for the Phoenix area is provided below. Average temperatures, climate details and current forecasts are included.
The Salt River Valley Region in which Phoenix sits is known as the Valley of the Sun for good reason -- it is sunny 85% of the time. From May through September, temperatures routinely exceed 100 degrees F. and often climb over 110 degress F. Short-lived, late-day thunderstorms, often accompanied by high winds, occur from July thru mid-September (the Monsoon season).
Things start to cool off in October and temperatures are mild from November to April. Phoenix receives a handful of frost warnings during the winter, but no snow. Temperature inversions over the valley in the winter months can make for some smoggy days.
