Tres Alamos Wilderness

8,300 acres of desert are here and varied desert at that, from the jutting dry peaks of the Black Mountains to the rugged, but low-elevation plains. Sawyer Peak (elevation: 4,293) is one of the wilderness's landmarks, as is Tres Alamos, a monolith of colored stone. Wildlife is here in force; look out for the Gila monster and the golden eagle.
