Description
Devil's Stomping Ground runs through the heart of North Carolina. Legend has it that this is where Lucifer creates his naughty schemes. Thus the name: Devil's Stomping Ground.
Beginning in Pittsboro, the road takes Route 64 west to Route 902 (which becomes Route 1164). The Byway continues on Route 1164, veering left onto Route 2877. A few miles down the road, Route 2877 becomes Route 1456 and three miles later, the byway ends.
Amid a region of history, the state parks in the area offer a wide range of outdoor activities to make the trip one that will be pleasantly remembered for years to come. Fishing, camping, swimming, and boating are available at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area. And the 500-acre North Carolina Zoological Park is especially suitable to entertain young travelers.
