Harquahala Mountain Summit Trail

Basics
Length:
10.8 miles
Difficulty:
Easy,
Intermediate
Time:
5.5 hours

Description

The elevation gain on this trail would be intense if it weren't so gradually graded. As is, this is a long hike and you may as well plan for a half day on the mountain, but it isn't too difficult. When you reach the summit, you'll find the remains of an observatory that the Smithsonian Institution used in the 20s; the trail is, in fact, the mule path they used to acquire supplies.

Books

Local hiker Bruce Grubbs provides all the information you need to get the most out of hiking the Grand Canyon State and enjoying its remarkable vegetation, fascinating animal life, rich history, and breaktaking views.

Prescott: An Arizona Gem Prescott: An Arizona Gem Prescott: An Arizona Gem
Prescott is a destination that transcends the Arizona archetype. No sweltering summers or miles of cactus covered moonscape. The town’s mile-high location in the Grand Canyon State’s central highlands brings four mild seasons, an average annual daytime temperature of about seventy degrees, and over 300 days of sunshine.
