Description

From the Kellner Trailhead, the trail begins a quick descent through a narrow canyon of Ponderosa pine. Kellner Canyon Spring is approximately ½ mile down the trail. If you look carefully, you will see the remains of several cabins that were built many years ago. The trail continues to swing to the east, crosses the wash, and ascends along the ridge. The trail passes through a fence (please be sure to close the gate) and continues through an area that was once burned over. At mile 1.1, the trail offers good views of the valley below as it follows along the ridge that juts out to a point. Continue northeast for the next 3 miles where the trail goes through a series of turns and wash crossings. The trail junctions with a jeep road at the water tank, where it turns left and continues northeast. At mile 4.8, these trail junctions with Icehouse Trail 198. Follow Icehouse Trail 198 for ½ mile north to the Icehouse CCC Trailhead.
