Trail weaves through boulder fields and forest just below the west slope of Mt. Elden. Affords views of Oak Creek, the Painted Desert and Sunset Crater.
North on San Francisco Street. At the light just past the hospital, turn right onto Forest Avenue. Forest Avenue will turn into Cedar Avenue. At the top of the hill, turn left onto Gemini. Go to the end. Go straight through the park. The trailhead starts near the natural gas substation. This is a loop. You will come to a T very early on. The trail to the left is slightly easier.
