Description
Lake Berryessa is a local favorite for houseboating, fishing, camping and wildlife viewing. It is very easily accessible from Napa Valley, Davis and Sacramento. Crossing into the mountains you leave behind the farm lands and wine country and enter oak forests with winding country roads.
Wild turkey, hawks, deer and eagles as well as snow geese, loons and blue heron roam the woods and with the exception of the turkey they soar above the water. Crappie, brown and rainbow trout, bass, bluegill and catfish abound and Lake Berryessa is a very hospitible fishing destination.
It never gets too hot, even in the height of summer, and there are multiple ways to plan a vacation to the lake. You can camp along the shore or at one of the developed sites, and if luxury and mobility are crucial, houseboat rentals are available from Pleasure Cove marina.
