Description
Point Sublime has been the quintessential mountain-bike ride along the escarpment of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for years. Extending for 18 miles one way along the edge of the canyon, the Point Sublime trail winds through old-growth Ponderosa Forest upon the Kaibab Plateau.
Views from viewpoints along the Point Sublime trail are vast and ever changing, accented by changing light and extending for miles into the center of the Grand Canyon. On the way out the first ten miles of the ride features gradual climbs and descents and the final 8 miles is a gradual descent. Think in reverse for the ride back! The turn around point for the trail, Point Sublime proper, is a great place to spend some time recovering and getting ready for round two, the climb back out.
Elevation loss and gain and the sheer distance of this trail make this a challenging ride for fit intermediate ability riders and above. In addition fees are charged to enter the National Park.

The Point Sublime Trail is remote and riders should bring extra food, water and clothing. Temperatures can plummet here if an afternoon thunderstorm strikes. It is also a great idea to include a repair kit and first aid kit. The Point Sublime Trail is multi-use and hikers may be encountered. Please be considerate on the trails and understand right of way protocol.
