Description

Waterline Road (FS 146) is an infrequently used maintenance road that travels through attractive conifer forests and aspen stands. The route is 22 miles out-and-back with an elevation gain of about 1,300 feet. Nothing tricky, just pleasant mountain air and freedom.

To get to the trailhead, drive north on Hwy. 180 from Flagstaff 2.5 miles and turn right onto Schultz Pass Road. Drive about 5 miles until you see Waterline Road (FS 146) intersecting from the left. Park across from it at the tank.
