Red ochre mountains flank the man-made expanse of Lake Mead, a dam-fed lake that reaches into Arizona catching houseboaters, land-based hikers, sun-seekers and water-sports enthusiasts in its sweep.
Foot, bicycle and cross country ski trail. Motorized vehicles are prohibited. This trail parallels Hwy 67 and offers beautiful views of the Manitou Park area. It takes the average hiker about 1 hour to walk this paved trail. Bicyclists must yield to pedestrians.
The Manitou Park area was a summer hunting ground for the Ute Indians.

Basic Directions
From Colorado Springs, travel west on Hwy 24 to Woodland Park. Turn north on Hwy 67 and go 6 miles to South Meadows Campground. There is a paved parking lot just outside the campground entrance. Parking is also available at the other end of the trail at Manitou Lake Picnic Ground.
