This nationally designated backcountry route crests two mountain passes (Engineer and Cinnamon) and visits the ghost town of Animas Forks. Though the whole loop can easily be a full day trip, individual segments can make for fun short trips by themselves.

The Kingston Peak road crosses an above-treeline bench at 12,000 feet elevation for spectacular views of nearby James Peak.

The Bangs/Rough Canyon area contains over 20,000 acres of beautiful canyon country, with large expanses of slick-rock.

A rough road which passes by one of the country's first uranium mines, this route is relatively easy and passes by a scenic lake.

The Caribou Flats road climbs to a network of old mining roads on a lovely open plateau with fine views both up to the mountains and down over the plains.

A short side-trip from the Alpine Loop Trail, this steep route provides access to the ghost town of Carson and views from the Continental Divide.

This is the kind of road you dare when you're both experienced and especially bold. This is very, very rough and the Clear Creek stream crossing is difficult indeed. Be careful when the water is high. (Although you should be careful regardless.)

Coney Creek Road is a continuously rocky route which climbs over some short steep hills.

This is an open offroading area, 17 square miles worth of desert. These desert miles have a little something for all skill levels, from the beginning sand crawler to the experienced rider.

The Grand Valley OHV area consists of 17 square miles of desert-like terrain offering challenging rides for all types of vehicles and all skill levels.
