Promised Land Scenic Byway

Basics
Time:
Allow 1.5 hours
Fees:
No fees and tolls.

Description

The Promised Land Scenic Byway was designated for the adventurous spirit. Traveling through Henderson, St. Martinville and Breaux Bridge, drivers will not only view and experience many species of birds, beautiful waterways, wildflowers and beautiful scenery, but they will also travel on the levee road.

If the travelers are feeling up to an escapade, a swamp tour through the Atchafalaya Basin, a semi-wilderness area where hunters fill their bags, fishermen pass countless hours of relaxation, and photographers are entranced by the alligators, deer, snakes, birds, rabbits, squirrels, and frogs that make their homes, will serve just right. Authentic Creole and Cajun cuisine at the various restaurants along the road give the trip a delicious diversion, and, the many historic homes and oak trees along the route will delight your eyes.
