There are some excellent scenic drives available at Grand Canyon National Park. Many feature overlooks with tremendous views out over the canyon. By far the most popular routes are those on the South Rim near Grand Canyon Village. Your options are listed below.




Buck Farm Overlook Scenic Drive 57 miles round trip 2-3 hours
Buck Farm Overlook offers a spectacular view of Marble Canyon and the Colorado River, with the Vermilion Cliffs to the north and Navajo Mountain to the east.


Buck Ridge Point Scenic Drive 9 mile round trip from Jacob Lake 1/2 hour
Buck Ridge Point is probably one of the least visited overlooks on the North Kaibab, but one of the most interesting. This scenic vista provides a truly unique view of the Arizona Strip, the plateaus of southern Utah, and Mt. Trumbull.


Crazy Jug Point Scenic Drive 32 miles from Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center 1-2 hours
Crazy Jug Point Scenic Drive leads through a ponderosa pine forest to a nice view of the Grand Canyon looking into Tapeats Amphitheater.


East Rim Viewpoint Scenic Drive 9 mile round trip 1 hour
East Rim Viewpoint Scenic Drive runs through mixed conifer forests interspersed with meadows changing to ponderosa pine and pinyon-juniper along the north side of the Grand Canyon.


Fire Point Scenic Drive 28 miles round trip 1-2 hours
Fire Point Scenic Drive offers a panoramic view of the Grand Canyon, similar to Crazy Jug Point, except that more of the Canyon to the east is visible from here.


Grand Canyon East Rim Drive 26 miles oneway 1-2 hours
The East Rim Drive covers 26 miles between Grand Canyon Village and the Desert View overlook at the East Gate of the park. Lookouts are along the way.


Grand Canyon West Rim Drive 16 miles roundtrip 1 hour
This popular route runs 8 miles west from Grand Canyon Village to Hermits Rest along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.


Kaibab Plateau-North Rim Parkway 42 miles (67 km) Allow at least 1 hour to drive this Byway.


Marble Viewpoint Scenic Drive 23 miles roundtrip 1 to 1-1/2 hours
Marble Viewpoint Scenic Drive runs along the north side of the Grand Canyon to a nice viewpoint.


Parissawampitts Point Scenic Drive 40 miles roundtrip 2 hours
The drive to Parissawampitts Point leads through a stately ponderosa pine forest to a panoramic view of the Grand Canyon and its tributary canyons.


San Francisco Peaks Scenic Road 31 miles (49 km) Take about 1-2 hours to fully enjoy this byway.


Timp Point Scenic Drive 32 mile roundtrip 1-2 hours
Timp and North Timp Points lie at the end of a scenic drive through stately ponderosa pines along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
