The Salt River is a beautiful river located 2 hours northeast of Phoenix. It's proximity to the Colorado Plateau contributes to it's scenic offerings. Rafting has been a favorite way to take in the grandeur of the area for many years, and for good reason.
The Salt can get up to a class IV whitewater river and mainly traverses through rocky canyons. You can expect to see oak and juniper woodlands give way to Sonoran desert vegetation. Several side canyons offer more diverse eco-systems that are ripe for edxploration. Excellent scenic riverside campsites are abundant and accessible only by raft.
